المعنى المحوري · CORE MEANING
تكثيف الشيء المائع أو جمع المتناثر منه حتى يصلُح وينضبط، لِيُصار إلى الانتفاع به أو إصلاح حاله.
To thicken a fluid substance, or to gather what is scattered, so that it becomes sound and orderly, and can then be put to good use or set right.

فائدة · KEY INSIGHT
الربوبية الكاملة المطلقة لا تكون إلا لله عز وجل وحده، مالكِ كل شيء والقائم عليه بالإصلاح والتربية بلا حدود. أما ما يُنسب من ربوبية لبعض البشر (كـ”رب البيت”) فهي ربوبية جزئية محدودة النطاق، ولذلك كان ادّعاء فرعون “أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ” ادّعاءً باطلاً لمقام لا يستحقه.
Absolute, complete lordship (rububiyyah) belongs to Allah alone — the Owner and Sustainer of all things, who governs and nurtures them without limit. Any “lordship” attributed to a human being (such as being “lord of the house”) is only partial and bounded in scope. This is why Pharaoh’s claim, “I am your most high lord,” was a false claim to a station he had no right to.

The stepdaughter is cared for and raised within the new household, gradually, until her upbringing is complete. · الرَّبِيبة: من تُرعى وتُنشَّأ ضمن الأسرة الجديدة شيئاً فشيئاً حتى تكتمل تنشئتها.

الرُّبّ (تكثيف عصير التمر أو العنب حتى يصلُح للانتفاع)
“Al-rubb” — thickening date or grape juice by boiling until it is fit for use
This is the original, concrete sense: turning an unusable fluid into a sound state that meets a real need. · هذا هو المعنى المادي الأصلي: تحويل الشيء المائع غير المنتفَع به إلى حالة صالحة تسدّ حاجة.

وَكَأَيِّن مِّن نَّبِيٍّ قَاتَلَ مَعَهُ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌ
“How many a prophet fought alongside many devoted companies [ribbiyyun]”
A large company gathered and stood firm around their prophet — their fighting alongside him was an effort to rectify people and bring them back to obedience to Allah, so their gathering itself served the aim of rectification. · جماعة كبيرة اجتمعت وتماسكت حول نبيّها، وقتالهم معه سعيٌ لإصلاح العباد وإرجاعهم إلى طاعة الله — فالتجمع هنا وسيلة إلى الإصلاح.

The word “Rabb” with the definite article (“al-Rabb”) is applied to Allah alone. When used in a possessive construction (“rabb al-bayt” — lord of the house, “rabbuhum” — their lord), it may be applied to a human being, but only in a limited, partial sense.

استخلص الدكتور محمد حسن جبل المعنى المحوري لهذا الجذر بأنه “استغلاظ المائع” من أجل إصلاحه، وهو معنىً لو تُتُبِّع في معظم صور الجذر في القرآن أعطى فهماً حسناً مرضياً عربياً وتفسيرياً.
Dr. Muhammad Hassan Jabal identified the core meaning of this root as “the thickening of a fluid,” undertaken in order to set it right. Tracing this meaning through most of the root’s Quranic occurrences yields a sound understanding that holds up both linguistically and exegetically.

المعنى المحوري: تكثيف المائع أو جمع المتناثر حتى يصلُح وينضبط، لِيُصار إلى الانتفاع به أو إصلاح حاله (كـ”الرُّبّ” أو المربَّى، من تكثيف عصير التمر والعنب بالغلي). “الرَّبّ” هو من يقوم على الشيء جامعاً إياه ومصلحاً حاله، و”التربية” هي إنشاء الشيء حالاً فحالاً حتى حدّ التمام — فكلاهما صورتان لنفس المعنى: القيام على الشيء بالجمع والإصلاح التدريجي.
The core meaning: thickening a fluid, or gathering what is scattered, until it becomes sound and orderly, so it can be put to use or set right (as with “al-rubb”, a thick preserve made by boiling down date or grape juice). “Rabb” (lord) is one who governs a thing, gathering and setting it right; “tarbiyah” (nurturing) is bringing something up, stage by stage, to its state of completion — both are the same core meaning: governing something through gradual gathering and improvement.

الربوبية الكاملة لله عز وجل: هو مالك كل شيء وحده، والقائم على كل الأشياء جمعاً وإصلاحاً بلا حدود ولا شريك. أما “رَبّ البيت” فقيامٌ على الإصلاح في نطاق جزئي محدود فقط. ادّعاء فرعون الربوبية باطل لأنه ادّعى لنفسه المقام المطلق (“رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ”) الذي لا يستحقه إلا الله وحده.
Allah’s lordship is absolute: He alone owns everything, and governs and sets right all things without limit or partner. “Lord of the house,” by contrast, describes governance within a small, bounded scope only. Pharaoh’s claim to lordship was false because he claimed for himself the absolute station (“your most high lord”) that belongs to Allah alone.
