Tajweed Game For Kids– A Fun Color the Mistake!
Do Tajweed rules confuse your child? You’re not alone. Many parents and teachers share the same challenge: how do we teach rules like Ikhfaa, Ghunna, and Madd in a way that actually sticks?
At Roots Muslim School, we believe Islamic education should be interactive, joyful, and visual—especially for kids learning Quran as non-native Arabic speakers. That’s why we created a game-based solution that turns every Tajweed mistake into a colorful learning opportunity.
Introducing: “Color the Mistake!” – a Tajweed activity that helps children identify and fix recitation errors through hands-on coloring.

🧠 What Is “Color the Mistake!”?
“Color the Mistake!” is a visual Tajweed game where kids read Quranic ayat that contain intentional Tajweed mistakes—and they have to spot the errors and color them based on the correct rule.
Each Tajweed rule is assigned a color:
- 🟢 Green for Ikhfaa (hidden nasal sound)
- 🔵 Blue for Ghunna (nasal humming)
- 🟠 Orange for Madd (elongation)
- 🟥 Red for Qalqalah (bouncing sound)
Imagine it like a treasure hunt where each mistake is a learning gem!
🎯 Why It Works – The Educational Benefits
This game isn’t just about coloring—it’s about building real Tajweed mastery through active recall and visual association.
✅ 1. Train the Eye to See Patterns
By highlighting Tajweed clues (like noon saakin + letters of Ikhfaa), students learn to spot rule triggers.
✅ 2. Strengthen Memory Through Color-Coding
The brain remembers color. When children link a Tajweed rule with a color, it boosts retention.
✅ 3. Make Mistakes Part of the Learning
Instead of fearing mistakes, kids learn to find and fix them in a supportive way.
✅ 4. Engage Multiple Learning Styles
Perfect for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. Read, see, color, and discuss—all in one game.
👨👩👧👦 Who Is It For?
- Ages: 6 to 12 years old
- Ideal for: Homeschooling families, Quran teachers in weekend schools, Islamic educators, and parents looking for fun Islamic learning activities at home.
This activity works well in both group and one-on-one learning settings. Whether you’re teaching in a classroom or around your kitchen table, “Color the Mistake!” adapts easily.
