That’s exactly what happened during The Journey of Isra and Miraj — an amazing miracle that Allah granted to our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

In this blog, we will explore the story of Isra and Miraj in a way that children can easily understand. Plus, we have a free downloadable activity sheet to make learning even more fun!

The Journey of Isra and Miraj

What is Isra and Miraj?

Isra refers to the miraculous night journey where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ traveled from Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem — all in one night!

Miraj is the second part of the journey, where the Prophet ﷺ ascended through the heavens, meeting many prophets along the way and receiving the gift of Salah (prayer) for the Muslim Ummah.

🌟 Imagine traveling across the world and visiting the skies — all while most people are sleeping! That’s the beauty of Isra and Miraj.

The Story in Simple Words

One night, while Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was resting near the Kaaba, Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) came to him with a special animal called Buraq. Buraq was faster than anything on Earth!

  • First stop: Masjid Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, where the Prophet ﷺ led a prayer with all the previous prophets behind him.
  • Then: He ascended through the skies, meeting Prophets like Adam, Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), and Isa (Jesus), peace be upon them all.
  • Finally: He reached Sidrat al-Muntaha, a place beyond which no one can pass, and Allah gave him the command for Muslims to pray five times a day.

Lessons We Can Learn

The Journey of Isra and Miraj

🕌 The importance of Salah:
Salah is not just a duty; it’s a gift from Allah to stay close to Him every day.

🌙 Allah’s Mercy:
Originally, Muslims were asked to pray 50 times a day! But through Allah’s mercy, it was reduced to just 5 — yet the reward remains as if we prayed 50.

👦🏽👧🏽 Belief in the unseen:
Even when others didn’t believe him, the Prophet ﷺ stayed firm. This teaches us to always trust Allah.
