The Quran states, ‘And eat and drink [what is lawful] and be not wasteful, indeed, He likes not the wasters.’ (Quran 7:31) This verse emphasizes moderation and avoiding harmful substances.

  • Halal Diet: Islamic dietary guidelines promote consuming nutritious and wholesome foods. Muslims are encouraged to choose fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources.
  • Exercise: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is reported to have said, ‘A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak believer, although there is good in both.’ (Sahih Muslim) This Hadith encourages Muslims to engage in physical activities that strengthen the body.
  • Sleep: Adequate sleep is crucial for physical and mental well-being. The Quran mentions the alternation of night and day as a sign of Allah’s power, highlighting the importance of rest. (Quran 25:47)

Mental health is often neglected in discussions about well-being. Islam acknowledges the importance of emotional well-being and provides tools for managing stress and negative emotions.

  • Prayer and Dhikr: Regularly performing prayers and engaging in dhikr (remembrance of Allah) can promote inner peace and reduce stress. These practices help Muslims focus on something greater than themselves and find solace in their faith.

  • Gratitude, Patience, and Forgiveness: Cultivating gratitude for Allah’s blessings, practicing patience in times of hardship, and seeking forgiveness for mistakes are essential aspects of spiritual well-being.
