المعنى المحوري  ·  CORE MEANING
الوثاقة في الباطن — أن يكون المرء مستوثقاً من شيء في داخله إلى أقصى حدّ، فلا يخالطه شكّ ولا اضطراب.
Inner security and certainty — being deeply, unshakably assured of something within oneself, with no admixture of doubt or unease.

فائدة  ·  KEY INSIGHT
هذا المعنى المحوري الواحد هو ما يربط بين ثلاث كلمات تبدو للوهلة الأولى بعيدة عن بعضها: “الإيمان” (تصديق مستوثَق في الباطن)، و”الأمن” (ضد الخوف، تحصُّن من الداخل)، و”الأمانة” (وديعة موثوقة تُحفظ في الباطن). الثلاثة كلها صور مختلفة لمعنى واحد: الوثاقة الداخلية.
This single core meaning is what links three words that at first glance seem unrelated: “iman” (faith — an inwardly secured conviction), “amn” (safety — an inner freedom from fear), and “amanah” (a trust — something reliably safeguarded within). All three are different expressions of the same idea: inward security.

“Al-Mu’min” (the Faithful One) is one of the Beautiful Names of Allah. Scholars have offered several complementary readings: that He fulfills His promise to His servants, that He affirms the trust believers place in Him, that He alone truly attests to His own oneness, or that He secures His creation from His punishment — readings that can all be held together within this single Name.

Al-Raghib al-Isfahani writes in Mufradat al-Quran: “The root sense of amn is the tranquility of the soul and the departure of fear. Amn, amanah, and aman are all originally verbal nouns; aman is used at times for the state a person is in when secure, and at other times for the very thing entrusted to a person.”

سؤال 1 من 3 · QUESTION 1 OF 3
01
ما المعنى المحوري لجذر (أ م ن)؟ وكيف يفسِّر هذا المعنى اجتماع “الإيمان” و”الأمن” و”الأمانة” في جذر واحد؟ — (تأمَّلي فكرة “الوثاقة في الباطن”)
What is the core meaning of the root (A-M-N)? How does this meaning explain why “faith,” “safety,” and “trust” all come from the same root? — (Think about the idea of “inner security”)

JADHR 05 · AMNROOTS MUSLIM SCHOOL
The core meaning: inner security — being deeply, internally assured of something. “Iman” is a secured conviction, “amn” is a security that removes fear, and “amanah” is a trusted thing kept safe within. All three are different expressions of the same inner security, differing only in what is being secured: a belief, one’s safety, or a deposit.

سؤال 2 من 3 · QUESTION 2 OF 3
02
ما الفرق بين “آمَنَ” (على وزن أَفْعَلَ) و”أَمِنَ” (على وزن فَعِلَ)؟
What is the difference between “amana” (pattern af’ala) and “amina” (pattern fa’ila)?

JADHR 05 · AMNROOTS MUSLIM SCHOOL
الإجابة · ANSWER 2
“آمَنَ” (أَفْعَلَ) غالباً متعدٍّ بحرف الجر (آمن بـ / آمن لـ) بمعنى التصديق والإيمان، أو بمعنى منح الأمان لغيره. أما “أَمِنَ” (فَعِلَ) فهو الفعل المجرد الأصلي بمعنى زوال الخوف واطمئنان النفس ذاتها.
“Amana” (pattern af’ala) is usually followed by a preposition (amana bi- / amana li-) meaning to believe/have faith, or to grant safety to someone else. “Amina” (pattern fa’ila), the original unaugmented verb, means for one’s own fear to vanish and for one’s self to feel at ease.

سؤال 3 من 3 · QUESTION 3 OF 3
03
لماذا قد تجتمع أكثر من قول في تفسير اسم الله “المؤمن”، مع أنها تبدو معاني مختلفة؟ — (فكِّري في اتساع المعنى المحوري نفسه)
Why might several different explanations of the divine name “al-Mu’min” all be valid at once, even though they seem to describe different things? — (Think about how broad the core meaning itself is)

JADHR 05 · AMNROOTS MUSLIM SCHOOL
الإجابة · ANSWER 3
لأن المعنى المحوري نفسه (الوثاقة في الباطن) واسع بما يكفي ليحتمل كل هذه الأوجه معاً: الله يوثِّق وعده لعباده، ويُصدِّق ظنّهم به، وهو الموحَّد لنفسه بنفسه، وهو الذي يؤمِّن خلقه من عذابه — وكلها معانٍ متكاملة لا متعارضة، تصبّ جميعها في معنى واحد جامع.
Because the core meaning itself (inner security) is broad enough to encompass all these facets at once: Allah secures His promise to His servants, affirms their trust in Him, is the sole witness to His own oneness, and secures His creation from His punishment — these are complementary, not conflicting, meanings, all flowing from one unifying sense.
