A Day in the Life of the Roots Curriculum Team 📖
When we think of Islamic education, we often picture a classroom full of students reciting Qur’an or playing learning games. But have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes before these lessons reach the students?
At Roots Muslim School, our Curriculum Team works tirelessly each day to design lessons that are accurate, engaging, and rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a typical day in their journey.

9:00am – Qur’an Recitation 🌿
The day begins with the Qur’an. The team gathers in the office for recitation, setting the tone with remembrance of Allah. This moment reminds us that before teaching others, we must first nourish our own hearts with the Book of Allah.
10:00am – Brainstorming Arabic Learning Tools ✨
Arabic is the key to unlocking the Qur’an. The team meets around a whiteboard, brainstorming new interactive tools—flashcards, root-word games, and digital slides. Their goal? To make the beauty of Arabic simple and fun for non-native speakers.
11:30am – Prophet Story Planning 📖
Next comes storytime preparation. Our educators select inspiring stories from the lives of the Prophets—like the patience of Ayyub or the courage of Musa. They work to simplify the lessons so children can connect to the values and apply them in daily life.
1:00pm – Game Testing with Kids 🧩
Learning isn’t complete until it’s tested. The team tries out their Arabic or Qur’an games with children, watching closely to see what sparks joy and what needs refining. If kids laugh, learn, and remember, the activity is ready for the classroom.
2:00pm – Recording Voiceovers 🎤
The next stop is the recording booth. Voiceovers are added to slides and videos to guide students through lessons. With warm tones and clear pronunciation, the team ensures that kids can follow along even when learning online.
3:30pm – Creating Interactive Lessons 🌍
In the afternoon, the design process comes alive. Posters, slides, and quizzes are polished with vibrant colors. The goal is to create resources that not only teach but also inspire.
5:00pm – Reviewing the Day 🌙
Before heading home, the team gathers to review what they’ve created. From Qur’an recitation to digital design, each step reflects the mission of Roots Muslim School: making Islamic education accessible, engaging, and meaningful.
Why This Matters 🌱
Islamic education is more than teaching—it’s living the message of the Qur’an and Sunnah. By showing our behind-the-scenes process, we want families to know that every lesson is built with care, accuracy, and creativity.
